C.D. Hoy, Lim Poi (likely), a pig farmer near Prince George and business owner in Quesnel and Barkerville, c.1910. P2023 Barkerville Historic Town Archives.

Believed to represent Lim Poi, a well-known pig farmer near Prince George and business owner in Barkerville and Quesnel, this portrait is relatively unusual among Hoy’s work in that it shows no evidence of acculturation. The gentleman has chosen to be represented in traditional Chinese dress, although it is not known if these were his everyday clothes or if he chose to dress for the occasion.
