Drawing through explorations of Historical
and Contemporary Art in Canada

Drawing has long been taken up by artists in Canada as a vital mode of expression. This guide explores a range of techniques through studies of the observational drawings of Lionel LeMoine FitzGerald (1890–1956), the automatic expressions of Marion Nicoll (1909–1985), and the fantastical storytelling of Shuvinai Ashoona (b.1961). Students will learn how to capture the world around them by honing skills that are fundamental to the study of the visual arts.
